According to a US study, students who use mobile phones while studying are not able to do multitasking successfully. This means that the use of the phone during the study is disturbing.
Researchers have found: that students who send
or receive text messages while studying do not have good test results and do
not do well in taking notes.
Research
has also looked at how online content can divert the attention of a generation
of "text-hungry" people.
Research
has also shown that when students did not use mobile phones, they could memorize information better.
This joint study by the University of Ohio and the University of Nebraska at the time of the exams could lead to a debate at home about whether young people can really learn from different online devices.
The study, entitled "Mobile Phones in the Classroom: Examining the Effects of Texting and Message Content on Learning," tested 145 students.
It seeks to find out how young people listen to lectures on video, take notes and answer questions at the same time, while also thinking about other things on mobile phones connected to the Internet which keeps interrupting.
Mobile phones and other portable devices have become part of the lives of young people:The researchers wanted to know how much students could actually read while being online. It is common for American research students to use mobile phones during classes and lectures. The same is true of them studying at home. The study, by Jeffrey Koznikov, Steve Mains and Scott Titsworth, found that "mobile devices are more likely to interfere with the lives of college students." The study also found that students who stayed away from these devices during their studies had better results.
There has also been debate in the UK over whether to allow the use of mobile phones in schools. The London School of Economics published a study of schools in four cities in England that found that schools that banned mobile phones had improved their results by 6%ent.
